Custom Built Kitchen Cabinets Vs. Stock Kitchen Cabinets

  1. Custom built kitchen cabinets give you unlimited options when designing your kitchen. Custom built cabinets are built to fit the layout of your kitchen which makes all of your space usable. Stock cabinets come in standard box sizes so you usually will end up having to use fillers for the extra wall space.
  2. There are many choices for stock cabinets, but those cabinet choices are limited by the selection of wood, hardware, finish and style. Custom cabinets are not built from particle board and not made on an assembly line.
  3. When you have a cabinet-maker design your cabinets you have unlimited options and can choose the type of wood that fits your family and personality. These unlimited choices on lumber means that you can make a choice that would be much more- friendly to the environment.
  4. Skilled craftsman working with their hands take pride in their craft of building cabinets, they make sure your finished product is a beautiful custom-built masterpiece that you will be proud to have as the focal point of your kitchen.
  5. Expert craftsman precisely build custom cabinets that are designed to last by using high quality materials, the best finishes, and superb joints, corner braces, dovetailed drawers, hidden dovetail slides, mortise and tenon joints, and other hand created details to assure longevity.
  6. You will get to work directly with the people that are building your cabinets to carefully plan your dream kitchen.

Utilize Unused Space In Your Home With Built-Ins

Have you ever looked at your home or the plans for your new home and wondered how could I better utilize the space? Built-ins are a perfect way to add space in your house and free up the space that you might otherwise add furniture to. A bookshelf takes up space but when the book shelf is built into the wall it creates a whole new appearance to your room and can also have storage cabinets below.

It seems like every family will tell you their home just doesn’t seem to have enough storage. No one wants those loose items like blankets, books, or items you don’t use every day, thrown under the bed or taking up space in their clothes closet. But, realize there is space that is not being taken advantage of like little nooks inside your home. Especially, under the stairways, under the sloped ceilings in a room, or along the sides of the room above the garage. Whether you are building a new home and want to incorporate extra storage into the house plans or already have a home and are looking to add storage, built-ins are a fantastic way to save space and create new storage.

Built-ins aren’t just for storage. Built-ins can also be furniture, like desks, bedside tables, sitting areas, bookshelves, and even pull-down beds. Adding built-in furniture is a very aesthetic way of saving space.

Before making decision to have or incorporate built-ins into your home, keep in mind built-ins can’t be moved to change the layout of your furniture in the room. Some people love built-ins and others don’t so they can affect the sale of your home in the future. When making a decision to have built-ins in your home be sure you hire a professional that will work closely with you and create what you have in mind for that perfect look and feel.

Who, What, Where, When, How, & Why of New Construction

Congratulations on making the decision to build your dream home! By choosing to build a home rather than buy a home, you have the advantage of getting a home that is customized to meet your every want and need. Before you move forward with the building process, however, there are some things that you will need to ask yourself.

Who will be living with me? We understand that this answer might be obvious to you (spouse, children, cat, dog, etc.), but think about what may be important for them as well. For example, do you plan to expand your family in the future? Would a large yard better accommodate the needs of your dog? Would an open-floor concept better accommodate get-togethers that your spouse likes to host?

What is my budget? It is important to determine what you can spend and what you are comfortable spending. Figure out all the costs involved in the building (and moving) process.

Where do I want to live? Consider factors such as the commute to work, distance from family and friends, and what type of environment you would like to see outside of your window.

When would I like to begin building? Make sure that your finances are in order and that you know what your wants and needs are.

How much space do I want? This includes both the home’s square footage as well as yard space. Think about your day-to-day activities and hobbies.

Why have I decided to build a custom home? This one may seem silly, but it is important to always remember what led you to choose a custom new-build home. Throughout the process you will have a lot of decisions to make, and you do not want to lose sight of the things that are most important to you and your family.
